On March 12, a Chinese blogger reignited speculation about actor Choi Hyun-wook’s alleged involvement in Kim Sae-ron’s 2022 drunk driving case, causing widespread debate online.

According to some sources, Choi Hyun-wook, who was under the same management company (Gold Medalist) as Kim Sae-ron, was allegedly with her at the time of the incident. However, Gold Medalist, which was actively promoting Choi Hyun-wook, reportedly concealed details about the “man in the passenger seat.” Since Kim Sae-ron was the one driving, she ultimately took full responsibility for the accident, facing both legal consequences and public backlash.

Adding to the debate, the Chinese blogger also claimed that, despite allegedly being in the same car with Kim Sae-ron during the accident, Choi Hyun-wook did not attend her funeral. This assertion sparked heated discussions among netizens, with some questioning his absence while others defended him.

Shortly after the rumors spread, Choi Hyun-wook’s fans countered the claims by citing an Ilgan Sports article published on February 12, which confirmed that he had indeed attended the memorial service. The article stated, “Choi Hyun-wook arrived at the funeral home with a sorrowful expression. After paying his respects to the deceased, he quietly left.”
Despite these conflicting reports, neither Choi Hyun-wook nor his agency has addressed the allegations directly. With no official confirmation from authorities or Korean media, the controversy remains a topic of speculation rather than established fact.
